Now K-12 schools can improve
performance while reducing costs

The Le2 ™ School Success Program is a highly successful improvement approach based on the work of quality guru W. Edwards Deming, who repeatedly demonstrated that excellence can be achieved at the least cost through process improvement. The founders of Lean Education Enterprises have combined their practical experience in Lean process improvement and K-12 education to develop an outstanding improvement approach specifically for K-12 schools. Unlike other Lean consultants, Lean Education Enterprises, Inc. focuses specifically on education.

In its landmark 2004 study, “Organizational Improvement & Accountability – Lessons for Education From Other Sectors”, the Rand Corporation concluded that Lean process improvement offers educators the most powerful improvement and accountability model available to meet the challenges of the 21st century.

Lean process improvement in education holds the greatest promise and shows the strongest results in K-12 schools. At this level, teachers have a lifelong impact on their students, who take what they’ve learned to the workplace or college and beyond.

WISE SPENDING IN THE FACE OF BUDGET CUTS

Schools that are serious about improving student performance must also balance their budgets. So how can administrators justify the expense of implementing our Le2 School Success Program when they are having to make budget cuts in critical areas? The answer is that our program will reduce costs.

One of the universal outcomes of Lean implementation is cost savings. A minimal investment in our program can quickly pay for itself. Even better, the savings will continue, year after year, as school and district staff use our strategies to find additional ways to improve. The program can be implemented in steps, and as your school begins to reduce costs, those savings can be reinvested into further improvements to your program.

The alternative to implementing Lean – do more of the same and realize the same disappointing results – is not an option for educators serious about improving student performance scores and reducing dropout rates.

LEAN DOES NOT EQUATE TO LAYOFFS

Using innovative problem solving strategies, Lean Education Enterprises helps administrators and staff use their creative genius to do their jobs more effectively. Our Le2 School Success Program focuses on doing more with existing resources using new tools and skill sets.

LEAN DOES NOT EQUATE TO MORE WORK

The Le2 School Success Program does NOT create more work for already overburdened school employees. Rather, it frees them to do the life-changing work they dream of achieving.

ALL PROCESSES CAN BE IMPROVED

A core Lean belief is that all processes can be improved. This belief is supported by research findings that suggest up to 80 percent of the steps in any process are unnecessary to achieve the desired process output. Lean Education Enterprises guides school administrators and staff to identify and eliminate those unnecessary steps, so they can devote time and resources to accomplish more and waste less.

SUCCESS FOR SCHOOLS AT ALL LEVELS

The Le2 School Success Program engages every person in a school building or district. We enlist administrators, support staff, teachers and students in streamlining their own processes, within three distinct areas:

Lean Learning
Most schools fall short of actually teaching students how to learn. (Teaching occurs, but is learning accomplished?) Often, without even a basic understanding of their unique learning processes, students are expected to perform well and remain engaged until they graduate from high school. That’s like requiring a new employee to do a job well without training!

Through the Lean Learning component of the Le2 School Success Program, students are empowered to control and manage their own personal learning process. First, we work with teachers to give them tools for helping students to discover and refine the ways they learn best. Then we coach teachers through a simple series of improvement strategies until they become comfortable and adept at using them. In this way, students gain the tools to dramatically improve their learning processes for the rest of their lives.

Lean Teaching
The Lean Teaching component of the Le2 School Success Program builds on the knowledge gained by and about students in our Lean Learning component. Using our straightforward improvement strategies, teachers learn how to more effectively assist students and simultaneously improve their own teaching practice. As a result, teachers reduce re-teaching time, deliver assigned curriculum, significantly improve student performance, and preserve discretionary time.

Lean Resource Administration and Support
School operations are composed of a vast number of processes that cross departments and are interdependent. Each process represents an opportunity for improvement. With our guidance, school operations are streamlined, resulting in substantial performance increases and cost reduction.
